Robert M. Smyth Cincinnati, Ohio
With a lifelong interest in helping others to solve problems and resolve disputes, partner Robert Smyth transformed that special skill into a career in law. I enjoy litigation because it allows me to advocate for a client and achieve a remedy for a particular problem, Mr. Smyth explains. In resolving those issues through litigation, I deal with a variety of businesses and individuals who have diverse experiences and backgrounds. Mr. Smyth practices at Drew & Ward in the areas of civil litigation, commercial litigation, labor and employment law, probate, estate planning, and general representation of individuals and closely-held businesses, including drafting and reviewing employment contracts for individuals and local businesses; and general representation in shareholder and employee matters. Mr. Smyth graduated from Miami University (B.A., 1991) and the University of Cincinnati (J.D., 1994). He served as a clerk for the 1st District of Ohio Court of Appeals. He was admitted to the bar in Ohio in 1994 and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio in 1995. Mr. Smyth is a graduate of the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers Class VII. Since 2005, Mr. Smyth was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star, honoring lawyers who have been practicing for less than 10 years or who are under the age of 40. He also is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and serves as the co-chair of the Social Committee, Young Lawyers Section of the Cincinnati Bar Association and as a member of the Court of Appeals Committee. Although born in Pittsburgh, he grew up in Middletown and Cincinnati. He and his wife have three small children and he also enjoys genealogy. Many clients, whether they are individuals or businesses, have a significant problem they need an attorney to help solve - quickly, efficiently and above all, favorably, he says. My knowledge and experience will help them achieve a result and get back to their normal day-to-day lives.
