He is a graduate of Ohio State University (B.A., 1989) and Capital University (J.D., 1992), and was admitted to the bar in Ohio in 1992.
To become certified, Mr. Schaefer was required to demonstrate substantial involvement in this field of law, devoting at least one quarter of his practice to residential real estate. He also passed a written exam, submitted five references attesting to his competency in this area, and earned a minimum of 36 hours of continuing legal education credits in his specialty area during the past three years.
Attorneys with this certification must be recertified at least every seven years and earn a minimum of 12 continuing legal education credits in the specialty area every two years.
The Ohio Supreme Court established a Commission on Certification of Attorneys as Specialists to identify specialists and set minimum standards for specialty certification.
Mr. Schaefer is a member of the Cincinnati and Ohio State bar associations, as well as the Southwest Ohio Land Title Association. He is very active in the real estate community and enjoys teaching first-time homebuyers about making good decisions. He recently was awarded the "Presenter of the Year" award from the Home Ownership Center of Cincinnati.
