James H. Coogan
A love of litigation and a tenacious attitude have combined in partner Jim Coogan for more than 40 years of successfully serving his clients.
I want the client to have peace of mind from hiring competent, dedicated counsel, he explains. I take my responsibility very seriously to be an advocate for the client.
Mr. Coogan practices at The Drew Law Firm in general civil litigation, as well as probate, trust, labor and employment law and closely-held business areas. He is one of the few Cincinnati lawyers with extensive experience in both estate planning/probate and civil litigation.
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati (B.A., 1959 and J.D., 1961), he is a member of the Cincinnati and Ohio State Bar Associations, and served as Committee Chairman of both associations. He was admitted to the bar in Ohio and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio in 1961. In 2004, Mr. Coogan was named to the "Super Lawyers" list published by the Cincinnati Magazine, based on a survey of more than 33,000 Ohio lawyers who voted for the best of the profession they had observed in action.
He also has served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Cincinnati College of Law and the Board of Trustees of the Council on Alcoholism of Greater Cincinnati. A Cincinnati native, he has volunteered for more than 30 years, assisting lawyers with alcoholism. For his dedication and service over the past three decades to fellow attorneys recovering from alcoholism, Mr. Coogan in 2004 received the prestigious Trustees' Award from the Cincinnati Bar Association. This award has been presented since 1989 to a CBA attorney for outstanding service to the bar association, the legal profession and general community. Recipients are honored for displaying a high level of commitment, dedication and courage.
With his innovative and persistent style, Mr. Coogan enjoys the art of verbal confrontation.
I believe in putting up the best possible fight to give the client the best possible net results, he states.
