With a lifelong interest in helping others, partner Bob Smyth transformed that passion into a career in law.

One of the most important legal actions you undertake in your lifetime is planning for your family's future in the event of your incapacity of death. Without a detailed and thorough estate plan, your assets may not be distributed according to your wishes. I enjoy helping individuals, families and businesses develop life and estate plans, so that their loved ones are not faced with greater hurdles at a difficult time.

Mr. Smyth serves as Managing Partner of The Drew Law Firm and practices in the areas of estate planning, probate administration, and general representation of individuals and closely-held businesses. "My role is to assess the client's situation, determine all options and advise the best way to achieve a sound estate plan," Mr. Smyth states. "Listening to the client's wishes and communicating through every step is very important to me."

Mr. Smyth graduated from Miami University (B.A., 1991) and the University of Cincinnati (J.D., 1994). He served as a clerk for the 1st District of Ohio Court of Appeals. He was admitted to the bar in Ohio in 1994 and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio in 1995. Mr. Smyth is a graduate of the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers Class VII from 2005-2009, Mr. Smyth was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star, honoring the top 2.5 percent of lawyers who are under the age of 40.

He is also a member of the American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, and the Cincinnati Bar Association, as a member of the Court of Appeals Committee. Although born in Pittsburgh, he grew up in Middletown and Cincinnati. He and his wife have four small children and he also enjoys genealogy.

Planning for the future is often an uncomfortable topic to address. With the help of trusted legal counsel, it can be less of a burden. Many clients, whether they are individuals or businesses, need to be prepared for the future and plan for the legacy that they will leave behind. My experience will help them achieve their goals and make the process less difficult and less complicated.
