Part-Time Accounting Co-Op - Filled as of 10/29/08

We are looking for a part-time (16 hours) per week accounting co-op to assist our Operations Manager in our accounting functions. Ideal candidate will be dependable, organized, accurate and flexible. You must be able to communicate easily with others, be eager to learn new technologies and not afraid to ask questions. First level accounting course needs to be completed.

Duties will include: Accounts Payable (Coding, Entering & Filing), Printing of On-Demand Checks, Firm credit card monthly data entry, Weekly production of batch checks and reconciliation of cost advanced control account, Posting of client payments, Posting of manual checks, Monthly reconciliation of petty cash, Semi-monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, Vendor maintenance/dispute/question resolution, 1099 generation and gathering of tax payer IDs.

Receptionist - Filled as of 10/20/08

We are a mid-sized downtown law firm celebrating our 50th Anniversary in 2008.

We are looking for our ideal receptionist: someone who is professional, courteous, friendly and outgoing. This position is critical to the firm's success because the receptionist is the first point of contact with our firm.

The person must be organized and able to multitask while functioning at a high activity level without close supervision. An individual who can takes initiative will be very successful in this position.

Below is a list of basic skills required for the job:
  • Associates degree (preferred) in secretarial, office support or executive assistant or equivalent work experience
  • Operate multi-line switchboard
  • Operate basic office equipment (postage machine, copy and fax machines)
  • High comfort level with Microsoft Office suite of programs (including data entry in Access), Intermediate Word and Outlook
  • Familiarity with iManage, Juris or Adobe Acrobat a plus
  • Law firm experience a plus
This position has evolved from just answering the phones to coordinating a number of tasks within the office, handling overflow from Legal Assistants and assisting the Operations Manager with projects including Internet marketing. We prefer someone who desires to work in a law firm.

The hours are 8 am to 5 pm with a 1 hour lunch from 1 to 2 pm. The switchboard is open from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
